Tourism in Azuero
In Azuero you will enjoy secluded beaches, the charm of our people and historic places like the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista in Chitre, a living example of 19th century architecture. In the City of Chitre, you will also find the Herrera Museum, dedicated to the history of the region, from prehistoric times to the present.
Azuero offers many activities for the whole family to enjoy, including more than 30 fairs and traditional festivals that are hosted throughout the year, including the world-renowned Las Tablas Carnival.
We also have national parks and refuges such as the Sarigua National Park in Herrera and the wildlife refuges of Isla Iguana and Isla Cañas, havens with excellent diving and snorkeling.
Azuero is also featured as a region to practice outdoor activities and enjoy contact with nature; you can surf at Playa Venao, considered one of the best beaches in Panama for this sport, and enjoy sport fishing on the east coast of the Azuero peninsula, known as the "Tuna Coast".
