On Sunday February 26th there was the 64th Sugar Cane Festival in Pesé. Santiago Ureña. The Mayor of the region, said that this year, the festival was brought forward at the request of the regional Priest so as not to clash with religious holidays.
This festival uses sugar cane and its by-products to decorate the carts. Nothing is wasted including the core and bagasse, which is used to create pieces of art that impress upon the visitors of the town.
The activity was led by Rita Mencomo, queen of the festival.
